Abacus CEO Megan Nesbitt has earned the Chartered Director designation from the Institute of Directors.
A spokesperson said, “Abacus Ltd. today announces that its Chief Executive Officer, Megan Nesbitt, has attained distinction of a Chartered Director designation from the Institute of Directors [IoD] – a mark of excellence in corporate governance and strategic leadership.
“The Chartered Director qualification is the IoD’s highest recognition and a globally respected standard that combines practical experience with rigorous academic achievement. Worldwide there are 2,000 people who have achieved this, with only 13 in Bermuda.
“Nesbitt’s journey toward this accreditation began in 2022 and has involved multiple stages of study and assessment, including the Certificate and Diploma in Company Direction, culminating in a comprehensive experience-based evaluation in 2025.
“To achieve this honour, Megan completed an intensive programme covering board responsibilities, leadership, financial oversight, risk management and strategic development. Her commitment saw her through a demanding mix of online and in-person modules, a rigorous case exam and a final assessment requiring evidence of substantial boardroom experience.”
Reflecting on the achievement, Ms Nesbitt said, “I am incredibly proud to have earned this designation. It has taken determination, discipline and commitment over years of study. It has served as a powerful reminder that leadership is just as much about self-belief as it is about external guidance. Becoming a Chartered Director means I can bring even greater value to Abacus’ clients, team and the broader community by applying board-level insight to real-world business challenges.”
The spokesperson said, “Nesbitt’s Chartered Director status brings immediate and meaningful benefits to Abacus clients. From improved risk management and strategic oversight to more credible and tailored business advice, clients will benefit from a level of governance expertise typically found at board level. Her qualifications strengthen the firm’s ability to guide clients through complex decisions, scale responsibly and align operations with long-term goals.
“The designation also signals an exciting new chapter for the Abacus team. Megan’s enhanced leadership skills are already translating into stronger team collaboration, stronger internal processes and increased opportunities for mentorship and professional development. Her achievement reinforces a workplace culture built on integrity, excellence and continuous growth – reflected in the ever-growing number of team members.
“This recognition underscores Abacus’s commitment to delivering value far beyond traditional accounting – offering clients trusted, future-focused guidance at the highest professional standard.”
